Amy - Home Office Careers

Hi, my name is Amy, and I work within the Accommodation Monitoring team in the Adult and Family support customer services group; I am currently an Operational Delivery Officer.

I have been with the Home Office since March 2024. I applied for the Home Office Apprenticeship because at the time I was working part-time and looking for a full-time role. I came across the Civil Service jobs website, read the job description and thought ‘I like the sound of that.’ I applied, was successful and I am now part of a fabulous, supportive team. We help each other through the modules and how to navigate the exams; we are like our own little community. Working at the Home Office gives you a lot of benefits: good pension, work flexibility and support, performance awards, progression routes and pathways.

From Monday to Thursday, I focus on my day job, and then on Friday concentrate on my studies.

I am a mum to three young children and enjoy working from home because I can walk the dog on my lunch break. I am an Apprenticeship Ambassador and a Mental Health First Aider.

If someone asked me about doing an apprenticeship at the Home Office, I would tell them to jump at the chance. You earn money whilst gaining a valuable qualification, and there are so many opportunities to progress through training and learning.
