This accessibility statement applies to the Home Office Careers website, careers.homeoffice.gov.uk.
This website is run by the Home Office. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.
For example, that means you should be able to:
- Change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:
- Some instructions and labels aren’t adequately exposed to assistive technology
- some links don’t give enough context about where they link to
- the map feature for job searching doesn’t work well with some assistive technologies.
You can see a full list of any issues we currently know about in the Non-accessible section of this statement.

Compliance Status
This website is partially-compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. The non-compliances are listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard
Some map controls on the Location page are difficult to use with a keyboard. This may prevent people who cannot use a mouse from accessing all parts of the page.
WCAG 2.4.4 Link purpose (in context)
Some links and buttons do not clearly describe their purpose or destination.
For example:
- on the Landing Page, some links use unclear or repeated text, and some linked images in the news section do not have an accessible name
- on the Benefits page, some links use generic text such as “Read more”
- on the Search Jobs page, some repeated links such as “View full listing” and “Apply” may not make sense when read on their own
This may make it difficult for people using screen readers, especially when navigating by links.
Disproportionate burden
At this time, we have not made any disproportionate burden claims.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
At this time, we have do not have any content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations.
