We’re recruiting Enforcement Officers in Solihull  - Home Office Careers

We’re seeking applications from individuals who are ready to take on a fast-paced role within Immigration Enforcement, where you’ll make a real impact by managing immigration cases and supporting the removal of those with no right to remain in the UK. You’ll join the Immigration Compliance & Enforcement (ICE) team, working within our Reporting Centre in Solihull.  

This is a dynamic operational environment, where you’ll engage directly with people, progress their cases, and support immigration legislation compliance through a wide range of activities across reporting, investigations and operational support.  

The closing date for applications is 28 May. This role will be at the grade of Executive Officer.

You’ll receive a starting salary of £32,110 – £33,073, plus a range of Civil Service benefits including an employer pension contribution of 28.97% and a generous annual leave entitlement rising with service.

About the role

As an Enforcement Officer, you’ll play a key role within a Reporting Centre team, managing immigration cases and supporting compliance with immigration bail conditions.  

You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where strong organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to make effective decisions are essential.  

Your role will involve: 

  • Interacting face-to-face with people reporting at the Centre 
  • Supporting detention and removal processes 
  • Managing a reporting population and progressing cases towards resolution 
  • Working across multiple operational areas including reporting, investigations, operational support and administration.  

You will also engage with a wide range of stakeholders, representing Immigration Enforcement in a professional and customer-focused way.

Working Arrangements

Due to business needs, this position is only available full-time. As it involves interacting with people in person, remote work is not an option; you are expected to attend the office every day. 

You may be required to undertake the same or a similar role within a different team or teams (where possible, at your base location or within reasonable travel distance), depending on business priorities. With appropriate training and support, this will provide opportunities to broaden both your experience and skill set. 

Training

You will receive full training and support to do the job. Training takes place initially in the classroom and then continues on the job with a mentor who supports you until you are fully confident in the role. You will work as part of a team where you’ll have access to advice and support every day. Due to the face-to-face contact and detention element of the role, it can be physically demanding, requiring suitable Personal Safety Training Level 2 and maintaining certification.

  • As an Enforcement Officer, you’ll work across multiple immigration work streams, including: 

    • Offender Management - Conduct face-to-face interviews and assist in detention and removal processes, playing a key role in upholding the integrity of the immigration system. 
    • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement – Represent Immigration Enforcement, interacting with customers and internal/external stakeholders, including detention management responsibilities. 
    • Front Office Operations - Manage the reporting population, handle queries and complaints, provide signposting, allocate cases, and deliver effective interventions. 
    • Workflow Management - Progress cases to resolution, ensuring timely and accurate decision-making. 
    • General Office Duties - Support day-to-day operations including inbox management and administrative tasks. 
    • Exercise judgement when dealing with operational matters, including situations that may be sensitive or complex, maintaining a professional and measured approach while supporting effective outcomes. 
    • Engage confidently with a broad range of individuals, using clear communication and appropriate questioning to support understanding and progress interactions effectively.

    Interview  

    If you are successful at sift stage, you will be invited to an interview that will be Behaviours (as listed above) and Strength based questions. 

    The interview will take place at Sandford House, Solihull. Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
