Our Passport, Citizenship and Civil Registration (PCCR) work touches the lives of the vast majority of UK citizens. We employ over 4,000 people in a network of offices across the UK across our three services. 

His Majesty’s Passport Office (HMPO)

HM Passport Office is the sole issuer of British passports, serving over 7 million British customers across the globe annually.

General Register Office (GRO)

The GRO oversees the system of civil registration, including births, adoptions, civil partnerships, marriages and deaths, in England and Wales. We do this in partnership with a range of government departments and the 174 local authorities who provide the service directly to their local community, registering over 1.3 million life events each year.

Citizenship

Provide the services to register and naturalise over 275,000 new British citizens

  • Processing passport applications and issuing passports 
  • Issuing birth, death and marriage certificates
  • Supporting people on their journey to British nationality
  • Managing adoption, birth, marriage and death registration cases 
  • Designing digital solutions to further enhance our services to customers.

We have a commitment to developing best-in-class customer services, including through professional development with clear pathways for those in the Operational Delivery profession. 

We have a variety of roles providing opportunities to work in interesting and challenging functions, gaining valuable experience. We are based at locations across the U.K., and many of our roles are suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office.
