Hi, my name is Natalie, and I work as an Assistant Commercial Manager in the Visas, Information and Passports Commercial Business Partner Team.
Prior to joining the Home Office, I worked in the NHS as a Senior Aseptic Pharmacy Assistant. After a couple of years, I was looking for a new career and development opportunity. I wanted to earn money and gain a qualification at the same time, so I decided to apply for an apprenticeship with the Home Office.
A typical day for me includes talking to cross-organisational stakeholders, ensuring compliance within contracts, managing change control documents and queries. No two days are the same.
I have been with the Home Office for three years. I enjoy the flexibility in my role, being able to use my initiative, managing my own workload, speaking to different types of stakeholders, and continuously learning as I go.
The key benefits of working in the Home Office that I value most are the competitive salary, opportunities for career advancement, and access to training and development programs. After completing my apprenticeship, I was able to pursue the next career level, which will open up further progression opportunities for me.
I have two young children in primary school. Once I log off for the day, I can fully engage and dedicate my attention to them.
