Hi, my name is Saroja and I work as a Request Fulfilment Catalogue Manager. I’ve been working at the Home Office for around twenty years where I have been lucky enough to work in various departments and meet some great people.
I thoroughly enjoy my role; it is both busy and challenging and no two days are the same. As well as managing our shared mailbox, I create new catalogue items for the department’s IT self-service portal. This requires me to:
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to understand their product catalogue item requirements.
- Review designed templates submitted by stakeholders to make sure all the required details have been provided to enable me to create the product.
- Create and build product catalogue item templates with the correct details.
- Ensure relevant stakeholders have conducted testing to certify that product catalogue items have been built correctly and follows the correct standard flow.
- Make product catalogue items live on the self-service portal for end users to use.
In addition to all of this, I also amend existing product items to ensure they remain up to date as well as retiring items that are no longer required. I also engage in regular team meetings to discuss on-going projects and developments.
The objective to create and deliver an item from start to finish gives me great satisfaction. Knowing that the products I have created contains the correct information allowing a user to easily complete the template and request use of an item, makes my job fulfilling and rewarding.
Before joining the Home Office, I worked in the private sector within the Finance and Customer Service sectors where I obtained a great deal of experience working in busy, fast paced challenging environments. I have been able to use the skills and knowledge I developed in these roles, alongside the experiences I have gained over the years working at the Home Office, into the role I have now.
There are plenty of opportunities for you to develop and progress your career in the Home Office. They offer free accredited training courses, which are government – funded courses where you can gain qualifications with an accredited certificate. They are advocates when it comes to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
There are also, so many great benefits to working at the Home Office. They are very flexible when it comes to work-life balance, and I really enjoy being able to balance working from the office and from home. They also provide an excellent Pension Scheme.
If you want to work for an employer who offers job security and flexibility within a professional and diverse working environment, the Home Office is the place to be. The experiences and skills that I have gained throughout my twenty years in service has been invaluable and I would highly recommend working at the Home Office.
