We’re Recruiting for 140 Casework Support Roles - JOB NOW CLOSED - Home Office Careers

The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports.

We are recruiting 140 Casework Support roles across the country to join either the National Returns Progression Command or the Foreign National Offenders Returns Commands, which are both part of Immigration Enforcement.

Immigration Enforcement is an operational command of the Home Office, which works with law enforcement and cross-government partners to tackle serious and organised immigration crime.

National Returns Progression Command (NRPC) is responsible for:

  • Progressing the cases of individuals who have had their applications refused or rejected by the Home Office.
  • The removal or repatriation of foreign nationals who have no basis of stay in the UK. 

Foreign National Offenders (FNO) Returns Commands is responsible for:

  • Considering the deportation of foreign nationals who have been convicted of a criminal offence in the UK.
  • Ensuring removal action is taken against those who have no basis of stay in the UK.

Immigration Enforcement Casework Support 

Your role in supporting the casework of one of the teams might relate to:

  • The removal or voluntary return of an immigration offender.
  • A claim of trafficking.
  • The transfer of an asylum claimant to a third country.
  • Whether to pursue sanctions with respect to those living in the UK illegally.
  • The progression of allocated cases through to conclusion, utilising knowledge to ensure full compliance with immigration policy and legislation.

    1. Basic information
      As the first part of the application process, you will be asked to confirm your eligibility by providing some basic personal information.
    2. Online tests
      You will then be invited to complete an online Civil Service Situational Judgement Test. If you pass this test, you will be invited to continue with your application. Candidates are encouraged to take the tests early in the process to ensure they can complete their application as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended) and by the deadline given. If you don’t complete the online tests before the deadline your application will be withdrawn.
    3. Statement of Suitability
      Following successful completion of the test, you will be asked to complete a statement of suitability of no more than 500 words which demonstrates your skills and experience for this role and how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the job description.
    4. Interview
      If you are successful at sift stage you will be invited to interview which will be Strength-based questions. There is no expectation or requirement for you to prepare for the strengths-based questions in advance of the interview, though you may find it helpful to spend some time reflecting on what you enjoy doing and what you do well.The interview will be conducted using a pre-recorded interview service called Launchpad. A full explanation of how the Launchpad interview will take place will be provided to you. If you are invited for interview, you will be required to have access to a personal laptop with a working webcam and good Internet access.
