Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme - Home Office Careers

The Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP) provides critical communication systems for frontline police officers, paramedics, and firefighters who work tirelessly to keep the public safe. The programme is responsible for the Emergency Services Network (ESN), a next-generation mobile critical communications network. This high-profile system offers secure voice and broadband data services to over 100 emergency service organisations and 300 other user organisations across England, Scotland, and Wales. Leveraging new technology, the programme will enhance mobile coverage and data sharing during incidents over a secure 4G network. You could contribute to this vital work and play your part in improving public safety.

What could I be doing

This opportunity involves working on one of the government’s largest programmes, to replace the current Airwave system. ESMCP is made up of a multi-skilled team covering a spectrum of expertise including engineering and technical know-how, project management, finance, security and communications. Working on the programme offers the chance to use your technical skills whilst contributing to one of the biggest technology programmes in Europe.  

Where could I work

Depending on your role, you could be based in one of the following Home Office hubs:

  • Bristol
  • Stratford

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working.  This is a non-contractual arrangement where employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in a Home Office site.
