At the Home Office, our work helps keep people safe, supports communities, and builds a fairer, more prosperous UK. Everything we do – from counter-terrorism to policing, fire safety to crime prevention, drugs policy to immigration and passports – shapes millions of lives. Including yours.
And we’re behind some of the most ambitious technology programmes in government — using data and digital innovation to deliver smarter, faster, more accessible services for millions of people.

For example, our technology handles millions of applications and checks annually, including 3 million visa applications, 5 million passport applications, 100 million border crossings, and 140 million police checks on people, vehicles, and property.
